Morgan Hill, California

MORGAN HILL

Morgan Hill was founded on November 10, 1906 and was named after Hiram Morgan Hill, a Missouri businessman who built a country retreat home there in 1884. Originally a community of ranchers, farmers and orchardists, the city has evolved into a desired community for the high-tech industries in Silicon Valley. Abundance of land and proximity to recreational facilities has led to a proliferation of oversized estate homes, resulting in a significant increase in real estate prices in the past decade.

Due to the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean, Morgan Hill enjoys a mild, Mediterranean climate. Morgan Hill’s historic Downtown offers fine-dining restaurants and charming boutiques. With over 35 eateries Downtown and the proximity to dozens of wineries, Downtown Morgan Hill is becoming quite a destination.

Over 250,000 visitors enjoy the local street fairs, summer music festivals, and holiday parades every year. Popular events include the Mushroom Mardi Gras, the Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks, the Downtown Wine Stroll as well as the Taste of Morgan Hill Festival. In addition, the Community and Cultural Center attracts 50,000 people annually.

The vision for downtown is a district that boasts an active, pedestrian scene and festive atmosphere for both tourists and locals. Downtown Morgan Hill will provide a destination and gathering place for the community, workforce housing opportunities, viable businesses, and a compact and pedestrian friendly streetscape.
